    Alex Jackson hails from a background in emergency services, working as a dual-trained firefighter and flight paramedic. For over 5 years, Alex also taught for the Canadian Red Cross and Canadian Heart and Stroke at multiple levels. His passion for teaching and adult learning has helped Alex understand the importance and significance of immersive and engaging educational experiences that go beyond traditional lectures and discussion-based experiences.

    His passion for teaching and immersive learning led him to found Hone Virtual Education in the fall of 2017. Alex’s passion for technology and improving collaboration within the provincial ecosystem led him to found the Virtual Reality/Augmented Reality Association chapter for Alberta in the same year. Alex is currently pursuing further education in the field of psychology with a focus on learning and education.

    Bryan Jackson has a computer science background with over 35 years of experience in the oil and gas industry, including 30 years of leadership and management experience in a range of business functions. He is a master of lean management, having learned from a three-time Shingo Shigo award winner and member of the Manufacturing Hall of Fame. Bryan excels at improving business processes. Combining systems thinking experience with his executive management experience has produced innovative solutions for many organizations.

    Bryan has a passion for contributing to the betterment of society, and that led him to be involved with Hone Virtual Education. His passions for cooking and for art provide a full left brain/right brain view of any challenges he takes on.

    Tim Lazaruk has been a professional accountant for over 20 years with more than 10 years of experience as CFO and Controller for both public and private companies. He has successfully developed and managed all aspects of financial management and internal/external reporting systems. Tim is experienced in advising Boards of Directors Finance Committees as well as managing relationships with external auditors and regulatory stakeholders.

    As CFO for Hone Virtual Education Ltd., Tim is committed to maximizing long-term shareholder value. His innovative and forward-thinking mindset comes with a team-oriented background. He brings a passion for sustainable continuous improvement to ensure business systems and processes are both efficient and effective.

 Stephen Cartwright has worked in the scientific and data intensive computing field for over 12 years in academia and industry. He is currently the technical director for a world-class modeling and simulation research group with many industrial projects. Since 2013, one of his responsibilities is overseeing a visualization centre that uses advanced visualization, analysis and artificial intelligence techniques to deliver cutting edge tools for a variety of disciplines.

    His BSc in computer science has a minor in pure mathematics. His MSc in Computer Science includes an additional Innovation and Entrepreneurship module. He also has formal training and significant experience in project management and management of development teams delivering prototypes that incorporate virtual reality, augmented reality and artificial intelligence.

    Why go from Astrophysics to Economics to Marketing? The answer for David Still is that he likes big ideas, being able to justify them, and getting them in front of lots of people. Most of the big ideas he has now have a lot more to do with creating efficiency around how information travels and marketing through social engagement – but it was probably a good thing that he started with his head in the astrophysics sky.

    David likes good scotch, sailing, and ideas and conversations that have his head hurting afterward. He has a very unique skill set that combines technology, economics, and marketing – and is only just starting to tap its full potential.

Nicole Raivio has been working in various roles in EMS for 10 years, and has been working as an Advanced Care Paramedic in Alberta for three of them. Prior to finishing her ACP program, her university studies included courses in Sociology and Psychology. Currently she works full time in Calgary and Siksika First Nation as an Advanced Care Paramedic.

She works with Hone to help improve the quality of education for her peers in EMS and First Responders alike. She provides valuable insights into the feasibility and practical applications of Hone concepts and products.

Kyle Scott has over 25 years of legal experience. He has worked with numerous large multinational corporations to ensure legal compliance and standards of excellence. Throughout his career as legal counsel, Kyle has worked with multiple technology start-ups, providing strong leadership and sage advice. He has mentored and coached these companies through the scaling phase with numerous successful exits.

As a retired military office, Kyle understands the value of teaching performance under pressure. He’s passionate and engaged with Hone’s mission to save lives.

Kristof Bostoen is a public health doctor with a decade of research and teaching experience. His medical engineering studies had a focus on medical electronics. Before his Ph.D. he was an electro-medical engineer designing measuring equipment and biosensors at the sleep lab and the cardiovascular exercise unit of Antwerp’s University Hospital. For a decade, Kristof also served as a technical support person for Doctors Without Borders. Over the last four years, he’s run an international consultancy agency that builds monitoring, data collection and analytical systems for non-profits.

Kristof is on a mission to change the world. He’s passionate about having a positive impact on future generations, how they learn, and what kind of world we leave them.

Ben Ploner holds a Diploma with Distinction in Advanced Care Paramedicine and works as a full time flight paramedic. With over 10 years of field experience, Ben’s adopted area of expertise is Performance Psychology and its application to acute health care, specifically within the practice of Paramedicine. Ben published his first Journal on the topic in November 2017.

For Hone Virtual Education, Ben contributes to the development of performance psychology concepts, and connects the dots between research concepts and practical application. He’s vigilant to ensure the development of Hone platforms is consistent with peer-reviewed and scientifically validated research, and with on-the-ground healthcare practice.

Kevin Bradley is an experienced Software Engineer with five years’ experience working in the computer software industry. He has one year of virtual reality development and is skilled in a variety of technologies such as Amazon Web Services, Javascript, Java, NET Framework and Software Deployments. He is a strong engineering professional with a BSc in Software Engineering from University of Calgary.

For Hone Virtual Education, he is building the CUE Recognition app. He’s enthusiastic to be engaged with the Hone team because he sees the applications for Emergency Services and Healthcare practitioners through friends and family members who work in these professions.

David Stannard, P.Eng., has been delivering innovative products, services and organizational changes domestically and globally since 1981. His career spans the semiconductor, electronic design automation, curated wine e-commerce industries, and identity life cycle management for US Department of Defence subcontractors. Most recently, he is leading an Agile transformation within the Bank of Canada`s Cyber Division. In addition to his broad experience, he holds an MBA, MSc, and BSc in addition to a variety of Agile certifications including SAFe Agilist, PSM I, SCM and CSPO.

David loves to be involved in technology starts-ups and share his knowledge and expertise. He’s a key member of the Hone team, facilitating lightspeed development in an Agile format.

Kenneth Sobool’s childhood interest in building electronic circuits ultimately attracted him to the unique robotics and AI course offered at the University of Alberta where he received a double major in mathematical and biological sciences. After some time at the Alberta government’s Office of Statistics and Information doing database integration and mining in order to facilitate informed public policy decisions, he shifted his focus to biometric data collection, integration and mining in order to facilitate informed health and lifestyle decisions for the individual.

When Serendipity introduced Ken to Hone Virtual Education’s Kristof Bostoen, he jumped at the chance to utilize his experience and unite his passions in such worthwhile work.

Bonnie Hutchinson is a writer and lifelong learner with degrees in Education and Whole Systems Design. As an organizational and evaluation consultant, she’s worked with many healthcare funder and provider organizations as well as healthcare practitioner professional organizations, helping them adapt to – and create – changing environments. She also has extensive training and experience in adult learning and teaching, including the research, design and presentation of many “train the trainer” projects. She’s bestselling author of Transitions: Pathways to the Life and World Your Soul Desires.
